Tattoo & Piercing Studio – Client Terms

These Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by Newman Ink Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) at our studio and through our website or social media.
By booking an appointment or receiving services from Newman Ink Ltd, you agree to these Terms.

These Terms operate alongside our Privacy Policy, Consent Forms and Aftercare Advice.

1. Age Policy (Strict Legal Requirement)

A. Tattoos

It is illegal to tattoo anyone under 18 in the UK (Tattooing of Minors Act 1969).
No exceptions — including parental consent.
Valid photo ID is required.

B. Piercings

Minimum age rules apply depending on piercing type.
We may require:

Valid photo ID
Parent/guardian presence & consent for under 18s
Parent ID matching surname or legal guardianship

We reserve the right to refuse service if age cannot be verified.

Accepted ID:

Passport
Driving licence
Citizen card
Government-issued photo ID

2. Booking & Deposits

A. Deposits

All appointments require a deposit.

Deposits:

Secure your appointment
Cover design time and scheduling
Are deducted from final price

Deposits are non-refundable unless adequate notice of 48hrs has been given to cancel or reschedule (see 2B)

B. Rescheduling

You may reschedule your appointment if:

At least 48 hours notice is given
This is done via phone, email or official booking channel

Failure to give 48 hours notice will result in loss of deposit.

Only one reschedule per deposit may be allowed at our discretion.

C. Late Arrival Policy

If you arrive:

More than 15 minutes late, we may need to shorten or reschedule
More than 30 minutes late, appointment may be cancelled and deposit lost

A new deposit will be required to rebook.

D. No Shows

Failure to attend an appointment without notice:

Deposit is lost
Future bookings may require full payment upfront

3. Payments

We accept:

Cash
Bank transfer
Card (if available in studio)

Full payment is due on completion of the session unless agreed otherwise in writing.

Prices are subject to change depending on:

Size
Detail
Placement
Time required

Quotes are estimates and may change.

4. Design & Artwork Policy

We create custom artwork for each client.

Deposits cover design time
Designs are shown close to appointment date
Minor adjustments are included

Artwork remains property of Newman Ink Ltd until fully paid.

We reserve the right to refuse copying other artists’ work.

5. Right To Refuse Service

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone if:

Under influence of drugs or alcohol
Aggressive or inappropriate behaviour
Medical or skin conditions make procedure unsafe
Requested design is offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate
Pregnancy (for certain procedures)
We believe it is not in your best interest

Deposits may be lost if refusal is due to client behaviour or undisclosed conditions.

6. Health & Medical Responsibility

You must inform us of:

Medical conditions
Allergies
Skin conditions
Blood disorders
Pregnancy
Medications
Recent surgery

Failure to disclose relevant medical information releases Newman Ink Ltd from liability.

We may refuse service where a procedure is not safe.

7. Tattoo & Piercing Risks

By receiving services you acknowledge:

Tattooing/piercing involves skin trauma
Risk of infection if aftercare not followed
Allergic reactions are possible
Healing results vary by person
Ink and jewellery react differently on individuals

You accept these risks by proceeding.

8. Aftercare Responsibility

Aftercare instructions will be provided verbally and/or in writing.

You are responsible for:

Following aftercare instructions
Maintaining hygiene
Avoiding contamination
Seeking medical advice if infection occurs

We are not responsible for poor healing due to failure to follow aftercare.

9. Touch-Ups & Healing

Free touch-ups may be offered at artist discretion within a set time (usually 1–3 months).

Touch-ups are not free if:

Aftercare not followed
Tattoo damaged during healing
Significant fading due to sun, picking or negligence
Missed touch-up window

Piercings downsizing or jewellery changes may carry a fee.

10. Refund Policy

All tattoo and piercing services are non-refundable once completed.

Refunds will not be given for:

Change of mind
Personal taste
Pain tolerance
Healing differences
Colour/placement decisions approved by client
Third-party opinions

If you are unhappy, we will attempt to resolve via touch-up or adjustment where appropriate.

11. Photography & Portfolio

We may photograph tattoos/piercings for portfolio and marketing.

Photos:

Will not identify you without permission
May be used on website or social media
Consent can be withdrawn anytime

12. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

Newman Ink Ltd is not liable for:

Allergic reactions
Fading or colour change
Healing complications due to poor aftercare
Loss of earnings
Indirect or consequential damages

Nothing in these terms excludes liability for:

Death or personal injury caused by negligence
Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
Any rights under UK consumer law

13. Personal Belongings

We are not responsible for loss or damage to personal belongings brought into the studio.

14. Studio Conduct

We operate a zero-tolerance policy on:

Abuse towards staff
Discrimination
Harassment
Threatening behaviour

Anyone behaving inappropriately will be asked to leave and may be banned from future bookings.

Deposits will not be refunded.

15. Gift Vouchers

Non-refundable
Must be used within stated validity
Cannot be exchanged for cash
Lost vouchers may not be replaced

16. Data Protection

We handle personal data in accordance with UK GDPR.

17. Changes To Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
The latest version will always be available on our website.

18. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes will be subject to UK courts.
